The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the distribution of critical electoral materials to all 27 LGAs in Imo State ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
This critical operation took place in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Owerri branch, the state capital, where INEC delivered Bimodal Voter Accreditation System equipment, ballot papers, and result sheets for the election in all 27 LGAs.
Southeast National Commissioner Kenneth Ukeagu addressed journalists at the distribution of these sensitive materials, expressing INEC’s readiness for the upcoming poll in the state.

Ukeagu guaranteed that elections will take place as planned in all LGAs because security services had put in place thorough security arrangements.
He emphasised that he expected a smooth procedure with no major complications thanks to INEC’s diligent planning. Ukeagu also stated that INEC staff members had undergone extensive training and were taught to perform their roles professionally throughout the election.
He urged Imo State’s eligible voters to turn out in huge numbers on Saturday to exercise their democratic right to vote for their favourite governor.
Ukeagu stated, “We are fully prepared for the election and are currently distributing sensitive materials to all LGAs in the state, as the election is set to take place in every LGA. We have received assurances from security agencies for the provision of ample security before, during, and after the election.”
