The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State will hold its Ward Congresses in the 304 Wards of the Twenty Seven Local Government Areas of Imo State.
The Exercise will hold on Saturday March 14, 2020, to elect the seventeen officials of each Ward. The Congress will commence by 8:am.
Prior to this ward congresses there are indications that there is a plot to expel Senator Samuel Anyanwu from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP may have hit the rocks just as those perceived to have ” sabotaged the party” are to be weeded out via forthcoming congresses of the party.
Newspaper reports claimed that Senator Anyanwu was suspended from the party for “anti party activities”
Ray Emeana, State Secretary of the PDP, was quoted in a statement released by Imo PDP New Media Center, to have maintained that Senator Anyanwu’s expulsion subsists.
He reportedly said at the party’s stakeholders meeting held on Sunday at the State party Secretariat “On Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Sam Daddy), the party insisted that the case of expulsion of the former Senator followed Due Process and met all the Discplinary measures before the expulsion was effected.
The renewed onslaught against Senator Anyanwu began in Imo PDP as Congress to elect fresh officers of the party draws near.

There are also clear indications that those sympathetic to former Governor Emeka Ihedioha are pulling strings to ensure only those loyal to the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives eventually hold forte from the wards to the State levels of the party.
A source in the party told this newspaper ” Operation flush is ongoing in the party. It’s all about politics of 2023″
Senator Anyanwu is yet to speak on his expulsion from the party but a source said the move was opposed at South East Zonal Exco meeting of the party held in Enugu .
There was no independent verification of this claim.
Prior to the latest development, Anyanwu was speculated to be on his way out of the PDP but he rebuffed the claims, saying he remains a bonafide member of the party.
