Malam Muhammad Adewoyin, the chief imam of the Ar-razzaq Mosque at Tanke in Ilorin, has forbade Muslims from borrowing money in order to fulfill their religious obligation to sacrifice an animal during Salah.
Adewoyin said to reporters on Tuesday that offering an animal as sacrifice during Salah is a representation of submission and devotion to Allah.
“Taking out a loan to fulfill this duty puts oneself under needless financial strain. Salah is not a chance to flaunt consumerism or wealth, he remarked.

The preacher, who also serves as the University of Ilorin’s Principal Assistant Registrar, stated that it is well known that celebrating with friends and family during the Salah period is permitted by Islam.
“However, Muslims are expected to spend responsibly during the Salah celebration,” he added.
Adewoyin also pointed out that it is not obligatory for Muslims to purchase new clothes or engage in lavish spending solely for the purpose of celebrating Salah.
He urged Muslims in the country to be prudent generally while celebrating during the period.
