Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has kicked off the 2019 IBSA Blind Football African Championships, taking place at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Nigeria, Egypt, Mali, Cote D’voire, Cameroun, Libya, Niger Republic and the defending Champions, Morocco, are participating in the football competition for the blind.
The sporting event is being powered by Bina Foundation, Enugu – a Non-Governmental Organisation ( NGO) that cares for physically challenged people with special needs.
The first match between Star Eagles Blind Football of Nigeria and their Camerounian counterpart, which was kicked off by Gov. Ugwuanyi, ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.

President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province (Anglican Communion), Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr, Chairman, World Blind Football Championships, Mr. Ulrich Pfixterer, Sir Chris Atuegwu of Bina Foundation and his wife, Ifeoma, who is the President/Founder of the organisation, were among the dignitaries at the event.
