The Anti Piracy Society of Nigeria, APSN, Anambra State, has called on government at all levels to enact enabling laws that will help fight piracy in the country.
Frank Uduonu, President of the group, who made the call during their just concluded Delegates Conference in Anambra, said personnel of APSN will liaise with government at all levels to fight piracy across the country; which, according to her, also informed the essence of the conference.
While expressing worry about non performance of those saddled with the responsibility of fighting piracy, Uduonu stressed the need to educate the general public on the dire need to curb piracy as, according to him, the alternative will not augur well with Nigeria.
In a remark at the event, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, represented by his Senior Special Assistant’s on Youths Mobilization, Tony Uche Ezekwelu, and his Public Utilities counterpart, Victor Meju, urged members of the Anti Piracy Society of Nigeria not to relent in their efforts to fight piracy; and further called for collaborations of all and sundry to fight fake and substandard products, as, according to him, it has negative effects on the country.

Also in his remarks during the event, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Umar, represented by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, dwelt extensively on numerous efforts of the Nigerian Police in that direction; while also calling on the general public to feed the police with vital information that will help them fight the menace.
Earlier in his lecture, the Anambra State Coordinator, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Williams Okpeh, represented by Alex Nwukor, said for the nation to get rid of piracy, there must be partnership, collaboration and agreement among concerned stakeholders.
He said SON is solidly behind Anti Piracy Society of Nigeria and urged all to embrace Standard and shun piracy, which he said, is a challenge that must be fought against.
