The ruling party (APC) All Progressives Congress has accused Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia State Governor, of running the state like his hamlet or a social club.
The state publicity secretary of the APC, Comrade Benedict Godson who made the allegation said it is unacceptable for Ikpeazu to be running the affairs of the state alone since he sacked 23 commissioners in January 2021.
Godson added that Abia is not the personal property of the Governor and should be better governed.
Reacting, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, countered the position of the APC chieftain, explaining that there is a state executive council in place in Abia as required by law.

He said at the right time, the Governor will make other appointments.
“We have five commissioners including the attorney general and commissioner for justice and his colleagues for health, finance, information and works in addition to the secretary to state government and the chief of staff to the governor. In due course, the governor will expand his cabinet,” he said.
In other news, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Farouk Yahaya, to go after Boko Haram, bandits, and other criminal elements terrorizing the country.
On Thursday, In a statement by the National Caretaker Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the ruling party also applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Yahaya as the new Army Chief.

The ruling party said it is confident that Yahaya will repose the President’s confidence in him by doing everything to stem the tide of insecurity.
It noted that the success of the military is a collective success as a party and nation, wishing Yahaya success in his new, important and strategic national assignment.
