President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been asked by Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Abuja Catholic Archbishop, to keep his commitments to religious harmony and national unity.
In his homily on Sunday at St. Augustine’s Parish in Sun City, Abuja, he made the call.
He claimed that when Tinubu met with a group of Catholic Bishops during a conference in Abuja, a few days before the presidential elections, they expressed concerns about religious peace.

“Our memo to him was very clear about many painful issues,” he stated. Now that he is President, he must figure out how to control the paranoid Nigerians who frequently herald unrest and enmity.
“He should promote better religious harmony as he promised us, by being fair and just to all religious groups and their adherents. The ball is in his court for now.”
