Former Speaker & Ex-Ogun Gov Received By Buhari

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday, received a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; and a former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The two politicians, who hail from Ogun State, recently joined the ruling All Progressives Congress.

They both held their former offices on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

They were led to the meeting with the President by the Chairman, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni; Governors of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru and Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu.

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has charged operatives of Nigeria’s focal anti-corruption agency to be disciplined, and discharge their duties with the utmost professionalism.
Bawa gave the charge on Monday during an operational visit to the Sokoto Zonal Office of the commission.

In a statement by the EFCC titled, ‘Anti-graft War: Bawa in Sokoto, Preaches Professionalism’, Bawa stressed integrity as one of the cardinal pillars on which the EFCC anchors its operations.
“The Commission will not tolerate any act inimical to discipline, either overtly or covertly, and will deal with such to the full extent of the laws, rules and regulations,” the statement quoted Bawa as saying.

“Having been chosen from among you, I have a singular advantage of being conversant with all the issues on the ground, ranging from promotions, welfare, seniority, and ranking, etc.

“I assure you that Committees are already in place to take a holistic look at these issues and recommend lasting solutions that will be implemented immediately,” he added.
