Chelsea will today host English Premier league leaders Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth-round tie today night.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has urged goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga to be in control of his future at Stamford Bridge.
Kepa has not featured for Chelsea in their last six games, with Lampard preferring veteran goalkeeper, Willy Caballero ahead of the 25-year-old Spaniard.
“Kepa has been professional, as expected, he has trained well, and he has kept his head down, supported the team. He has a long-term future under me at Chelsea. All players here are in control of their destiny in terms of how they play and how they train.” Lampard was quoted by Sky Sports as saying at his pre-match press conference.
Lampard added: “This is Chelsea and we are trying to close the gap on the EPL table. There is nobody who can be relaxed or loose, and we are pushing every day. Of course, in the summer, we look at the group as a whole, but we’re not looking beyond the game against Liverpool.”
Former Real Madrid star, Michael Owen, has predicted the outcome of the FA Cup fifth-round match between Chelsea and Liverpool on Tuesday.
Frank Lampard’s men head to the match after playing a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, while Liverpool lost 3-0 against Watford.
“For me, this is the match of the round. The four medals Frank Lampard has won in the FA Cup is a reflection of his love concern with the competition and Liverpool are the best team in the world this season. Since it is a one leg-tie at this stage of the competition, I see this match being a tight, cagey contest.
“However, much will depend on the side Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, to decided to play, although as both Shrewsbury and Everton can attest to, even a more youthful Liverpool side will take some stopping.” Owen wrote in his Betvictor column. Owen wrote in his Betvictor column.
The match kick-off time is 8:45 pm.
