The Department of State Services (DSS) has chastised the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) for conducting a sloppy inquiry into the passing out certificate of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.
According to news reports, the secret police testified to the Enugu Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday that the governor’s certificate was valid through a report.
The DSS chastised the NYSC for what it called a sloppy and hurried inquiry that led to the conclusion that Mbah’s NYSC discharge certificate was forged.

In a statement on Oath read by its representative, Mr. Yahaya Isa Mohammed, during the ongoing Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Enugu, the DSS revealed that the NYSC had misplaced Mbah’s original file and opened a temporary one for him after he had returned from Law School to complete his NYSC.
Contrary to what NYSC said, the secret police determined that the certificates in Mbah’s series were issued to corps members in Lagos.
Mohammed, the DSS’s Deputy Director, Operations and Strategic Department, was summoned to testify in support of Mbah’s NYSC certificate.
He also stated that NYSC was unable to determine to whom or which state or states of the federation 12 of its certificates, A808297 to A808308, were issued, and that the security agency launched an investigation into the discharge certificate controversy in response to a petition filed by Dr. Mbah on February 8, 2023.
