The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Tuesday that the physical inspection and auction of 649 forfeited automobiles situated in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory will begin.
The exercise is expected to entail the auctioning of 15 vessels and barges in Rivers, Delta, and Lagos states, as well as 39 mobile phones, 11 laptop computers, and other items.

The auctioneers are claimed to be nominated by the commission, according to a public notice advertorial published on Friday.
“From Tuesday, there would be physical and e-auction of the items, which were subject of final forfeiture orders in accordance with its Establishment Act, 2004; Public Procurement Act, 2007; and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022.”
The advertisement described the goods up for auction in each state, as well as the auction dates and locations, as well as websites for online viewing of those to be auctioned electronically.
The exercise, which will take place in multiple and simultaneous locations across the affected states and the FCT, is set to conclude on December 20, 2022, with physical auctions in Sokoto and Ilorin, respectively.
Meanwhile, Lagos has the most vehicles for auction, with 438, followed by Ibadan, Oyo State, with 80, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with 45, and the Federal Capital Territory, with 35.

Others are Benin, Edo State, with 20 vehicles; Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with 11 vehicles; Enugu, with nine vehicles; Ilorin, Kwara State, with seven vehicles; and Kano and Sokoto, each with two vehicles.
Exotic cars, pricey sport utility vehicles, trucks, buses, and saloon cars are among the vehicles up for auction.
Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GLK, 4matic, ML, and CLA models; BMW X6, 525i and other models; Range Rover and Land Rover SUVs; Porsche, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado, Lexus LX 570, RX 350, and other pricey vehicles are among the options.
Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan, Infinity, Mazda, and several other SUVs, space wagons, and saloon cars are among the long list.
The advertisement also stated that laptops, including Apple Macbooks, iPhones, Samsung phones, and others, will be auctioned off.

The commission noted, “The auction is open to the general public throughout Nigeria for the duration of the bidding period, except staff of the commission and persons, groups or organisations against whom the forfeiture order was made.
“Asset viewing is free at the asset locations; assets will be sold ‘as is’ and ‘where is’ and no asset will be sold below the reserved price. A winning bid can only be equal or above the commission’s reserved price.”
