The Super Eagles camp in Benin was a beehive of activities on Tuesday, November 10, as the deputy governor of Edo state Philip Shaibu personally trained with the squad ahead of their AFCON 2021 qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Nigeria opened camp on Monday, October 9, in Benin ahead of the all-important fixture slated for Friday, October 13, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Philip Shaibu is a football pundit as well as a footballer and he is instrumental for Bendel Insurance’ return to the Nigeria Professional Football League.
He is famous within the Nigeria football league community having taken time to see local games in several places.
Ahead of the Nigeria vs Sierra Leone game, he joined the Super Eagles in training as they play the ‘middle-man’ game with himself in the middle attempting to get the ball.
Gernot Rohr’s men head into the match as the leader of Group L with six points having already beaten Lesotho and Benin in their first two games.
Some of the players also showed that they are ready for the fixture after putting up impressive displays all across their clubs before the international break.

As at the time of filing this report, 13 of the invited players have been confirmed in the team camp while the remaining are expected.

In camp already are team captain Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun, Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastin Osigwe, Zaidu Sanusi, Tyronne Ebuehi, Etebo Oghenekaro, Maduka Okoye, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Chidozie Awaziem, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Dennis.
