In the spirit of peace and peaceful coexistence throughout the nation, the Kaduna State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has pleaded with Nigerians to follow the legal system.
This was expressed in a statement on Wednesday by the Kaduna-based CAN chairman, Rev. John Hayab, in response to the ruling of the Presidential victory Petition Court (PEPC), which affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the court declared Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president in the election scheduled for February 25, 2023, to be the legitimate victor on Wednesday.
Tribunal Verdict: ‘It’s Time For Them To Have Sense’, Keyamo Diss Obi, Atiku Supporters
The tribunal determined that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential nominee, had failed to establish the validity of his petition to remove Tinubu from office.
The petition submitted by the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was similarly dismissed by the court for lack of substance.
Further, Hayab urged Nigerians to refrain from being exploited as a dividing force in their nation and to let the rule of law take its course for the country’s general peace and unity.
Accepting the tribunal’s decision and letting the rule of law take its course, according to the CAN Chairman in Kaduna, will strengthen the perception that the court represents the average man’s best chance.
In addition, Hayab asked all Nigerians and opposition candidates to accept the tribunal’s decision, even if it did not meet their expectations.
UPDATE: Akpabio Advices Peter Obi, Atiku Over Tribunal Verdict
He said: “We should, as Nigerians, respect the judicial system for the interest of peace and harmonious coexistence of the country.
“Nigerians must not allow themselves to be used to divide the country, based on political differences, but unite and work with the person the court rules in his favour to lead the affairs of the land for development to thrive in Nigeria.
“Politicians come and go, but the country remains. Therefore, we must think inward and not allow some selfish individuals to put the country into confusion that could lead to chaos that can result in loss of lives and destruction of property, which could set the country backwards, instead of consolidating Nigeria’s progress.”
