People’s Democratic Party Chieftain and former Senator from Kogi State, Dino Melaye have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the US Embassy, British High Commission, and Transparency International against Kogi State Government.
According to the letters all dated March 1st, 2021, the group said its investigation revealed the Yahaya Bello administration engaged in corrupt practices in awarding contracts, borrowing from non-capital market, circumvention of procurement procedures among others.
“We have meticulously investigated and uncovered huge financial fraud carried out by Kogi State Government, the Governor of Kogi State and his cohorts from 2016 – 2019,” the letter reads.

Melaye, a former Kogi West lawmaker, is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He shared pictures of the acknowledged copies of the letters on social media on Monday.

Melaye spoke with the media at the offices of the aforementioned bodies.
He threatened there would be a protest at the EFCC headquarters if the commission fails to act on the petition.
However, the controversial former senator has advised his colleagues in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against defecting to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
In a post on Twitter, the former lawmaker said that defecting to the APC would be a foolish thing to do.
According to Dino Melaye, the only time the party can be trusted is when it is a d**d APC man that is being engaged.

He wrote: “Those planning to leave PDP, my humble advice. The only APC man you can trust is the d**d Apc man. Don’t be a fool. SDM.”
Dino Melaye gave the advice amid talks of a massive defection from the PDP to the APC.
In the space of two weeks, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State dumped the party for the APC.
The governor who is accused of chasing presidential ambition said that he left the PDP because the party has not been fair to the Southeast region.
Days later, Senator Elisha Abbo defected from the PDP to the APC on grounds that the PDP has been mismanaged in Adamawa State.
