The Anambra State House of Assembly has summoned the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Ogochukwu Okpala and Commissioner for Information And Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba to ascertain the level of preparedness of the state to contain any possible outbreak of coronavirus in the state.
The summon came on the heels of the Motion of urgent Public Importance moved by the Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Member representing Awka South 1 constituency, Hon. Pharm. Nnamdi .G. Okafor.
Presenting the motion, today, Tuesday, 3rd March, 2020, Hon. Phram. Nnamdi .G. Okafor, said that following the devastating effects of coronavirus, the state government must start making arrangement to avoid and contain any possible outbreak of the deadly diseases.
According to him, since the virus is already in two states in Nigeria, Anambra state must make a conscious effort to take precautionary measures to stop and control an outbreak of the virus.
He also heaped on the need for serious public enlightenment of the citizens of the states, on the need for them to be aware of the diseases and take preventive measures.

The House, therefore, resolved to invite the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Ogochukwu Okpala and Commissioner for Information & Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, on the next adjourned date, to brief the House on the level of preparedness by the state government.
