Prof. Mohammed Isah, the chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), has warned elected officials not to provide incorrect information on their asset disclosure forms.
He issued a warning that those who violated the law would face legal action and even jail time.
At the Royal Suite Institute in Suleja, Isah informed several newly elected officials while presenting them with Form CCB1.
CCB Reveals Those Not Mandated To Declare Their Assets Public
The chairman warned the incoming elected officials not to make a mistake when filling out the assets declaration Form CCB1, as they would be subject to punishment. The chairman addressed through the federal commissioner of North Central, Prof. Juwayiwa Badamosuiyi.
“It is mandatory for every elected member to fill Form CCB1 before they are sworn into their various offices, as the importance of Form CCB1 cannot be overemphasised,” Prof. Juwayiwa insisted.
She further emphasised: “We are always willing to count on your usual support to achieve the desired objective of the CCB as required by the law to declare assets from the beginning and at the end of every tenure.”
The state House of Assembly clerk’s efforts to ensure that members completed Form CCB1 were later acknowledged by the federal commissioner.

Additionally, the Niger State Office of CCB Director, Mrs. Deborah Charles, warned both incoming and departing members that failing to disclose assets could result in expulsion from office or legal action.
Before May 15th, she advised elected officials to complete their forms and turn them in to the code of conduct office.
In a same vein, the outgoing Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, commended CCB officials on behalf of the newly elected officials for instilling in government officials behaviors that allow democracy to flourish in the country.
He assured: “The agency of the state government is determined to collaborate with CCB in entrenching the culture of transparency and accountability among public office holders towards advancing the nation’s democracy.”
