President Muhammadu Buhari has announced his plans for after he leaves office on May 29, 2019.
Buhari stated that he intends to be a “great landowner” in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
He made the remarks at a goodbye meeting with outgoing US Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard at the State House in Abuja.
In response to a question from Ambassador Leonard, Buhari stated that he intended to be a “large landlord” back home, adding that “managing his farms and tending his more than 300 livestock, “I am excited to go.”

Buhari expressed optimism that Nigeria will continue to make strides toward forming a nation out of our diverse and competitive communities.
The president went on to say that he appreciated working with the Ambassador and hoped she had more time to serve here.
