Chief Billy Osawuru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has voiced worry about how the elimination of fuel subsidies has affected Nigerians’ livelihoods in the weeks since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced it.
Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), sometimes known as Petrol or Fuel, was initially marketed at N180 per litre, according to Osawuru. He stated that the sensation and pain will be different now that it is offered for N537 and above.
However, the member of the House of Representatives representing Orhionmwon/Uhumwode Federal Constituency called with Nigerians to be patient and give President Tinubu the benefit of the doubt, claiming that things will improve in the long run.
Tinubu Reveals Why He Refused To Ask For Fuel Subsidy Payment Benefits
According to newsmen, Osawuru mentioned this on Monday while speaking to journalists in Abuja.
The legislator stated that the House of Representatives is well aware of the country’s current difficulty, and that lawmakers are striving to alleviate the people’s suffering.
According to him, citizens will eventually gain from the elimination of fuel subsidies, as will their grandkids.
“If you get two thousand nairas as a subsidy, just on a short term, then that suffering is still there, and we are still going to pay the price. But if we can just let the two thousand go towards something else, that would make our lives better in the long run.
“You are not just going to enjoy it; your children will enjoy it, and your children’s children will enjoy it. I am sure that it is our goal that patience and tolerance are what we are pleading for because I understand the way it is; there is always going to be a shake-up, and not in a pleasant way.

“Imagine someone that used to buy fuel for N180, today he is buying it for 537; it is not the same feeling, we know the hardship is there, but I can assure you that it is going to be for a short period. If we can go through this short period by being patient with the new administration, better days will be ahead for us all,” Daily Trust quoted Chief Osawaru saying.
