Angry IPOB Member Gives Damning Reasons Why He Attacked Ekweremadu In Germany; Ekweremmadu Reacts

The attack on Senator Ekweremmadu in Nuremberg, Germany by IPOB has continued to generate reactions from Igbos worldwide.

Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo group in Canada have lent their voices in strong condemnation of the action, describing it as an act of cowardice while urging the German Law Enforcement officers to fish out the perpetrators of the act.

Also, Igbos within Nigeria have divided opinions and reactions to the incident, some are of the opinion that since Ekweremmadu has been silent on many issues that bother on Fulani herdsmen menace in Enugu state, he deserves to be beaten, while others disagree, saying that Senator Ekweremmadu played a vital role in the release of the IPOB leader from Kuje prison, thus is undeserving of the embarrassment.

Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, reacting to the incident, confirmed that he was attacked in Germany by IPOB members when he attended the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organized by Ndigbo in Germany where he was billed to give a keynote address alongside the President-General Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo.

Ekweremmadu further explained that trouble started when IPOB members came to the venue and started complaining about the killings in Igboland, his explanations to them fell on deaf ears which eventually escalated to him being beaten up by the IPOB members.

He, however, expressed disappointment at the treatment meted out to him by the IPOB members considering the efforts he put in to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu from Kuje prison and his strong condemnation of the python dance. He, however, thanked friends and wellwishers who have reached out to him, especially the Nigerian ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

A visibly angry IPOB member who was reportedly at the venue where the event took place explained why they decided to beat up the former deputy senate president, the IPOB member accused Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, Southeast governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo of doing nothing in the face of killings and kidnapping that has been ongoing in Igbo land and for being the brain behind IPOB proscription operation python dance.

He said,” They killed over 150 people in Ukpabi Nimbo, not a word from him. The first Rev. Father was kidnapped and murdered, he didn’t speak out. Our farms and economic crops were destroyed, he didn’t say condemn it. Royal fathers were kidnapped, it didn’t bother him. Another Rev. Father was murdered in cold blood, it wasn’t his business. All these in his home state. Even as a deputy senate president, he didn’t say anything.”

Speaking further, the IPOB member said,” He connived with the treacherous Ohaneze and Southeast governors to proscribe IPOB and subsequently brought Python Dance to maim and kill innocent young men. Now he is running like a cow. Bia ka irie ji nna ki koro.”
