House member representing Awka North constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, John Nwokoye, has declared that qualitative empowerment of his people is far better than indulgences given to them for gratification purposes.
The people oriented lawmaker said this during the grand opening of the Constituency office at Achalla, headquarters of Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State to mark his 100 days in office.
According to Nwokoye, “It is my covenant to ably represent and do resoundingly well for my constituents through engagement/provisions of basic amenities, and that why I am opening constituency offices to give them a sense of belonging. I will use every medium available to me as a State Lawmaker to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of my people. In the next couple of years, just as we have started, issues of youth unemployment /empowerment and qualitative education of our pupils will be given priority in order to secure their future”.
While recounting his achievements in the last 100 days, he listed the 100 days distribution of million naira worth to drugs to all the Primary Health Centers in Awka North, which provide for pregnant women, lactating mothers, children and the elderly; paying for the Anambra Health Insurance Scheme to about 100 indigenes of Awka North, which allow them to seek medical attention in any Hospital in Anambra State and lots more.
The Transition Chairman of Awka North LGA, Hon. Ferdinand Onwuje, Chinemeze, in his opening remarks stated that there is a great difference in Nwokoye’s style of leadership.
In his words, “I urge Awka North to rally round this vibrant lawmaker and give him all the necessary support”.
The Constituency of4fice was commissioned and presented to constituents by the Speaker of the State of Assembly, Rt Hon. Uche Okafor. In his brief address, the eloquent Speaker eulogized Nwokoye, describing him as one of the most brilliant Legislator of the 7th Assembly.
According to Okafor, “This is a Legislator that has his people at heart. One of the very few Legislators that has contributed in all deliberation of the house since its inception”.
Rt Hon Uche Okafor informed the listening Constituents that what they have in Hon. John Nwokoye is what everybody is praying for.
Speaking about his outstanding performance in 100 days, the Speaker of the 7th Assembly revealed, “In a space of 100 days look at what he has done. John Nwokoye has surpassed the three cardinal responsibilities of a Legislator”.
Before cutting the ribbon to officially declare the Constituency office open, Hon. John Nwokoye joined by the Speaker, members of the House of Assembly present, Traditional Rulers present, and Stakeholders from Awka North, presented textbooks, exercise books and other logistic to students, who were joined by their parents and guidance.
