Following the collapse of a one-story structure in Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, a builder known as Chizoba Aniefuna and his two sons perished.
One of the builder’s relatives who was also trapped inside the structure was freed and taken to St. Felix Hospital in Nnewi.

The sad situation was caused by subpar materials and a lack of authorisation from the appropriate regulatory bodies, according to Anambra State Chairman of Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, Engr. Victor Meju.
Chukwunafu Anamanjo, the building’s owner, will be asked questions to help with the investigation, he said, noting that it was his order to block up the collapse scene.
