Yevgeny Prigozhin, the CEO of the private military firm Wagner, was reportedly killed in a plane crash on Wednesday.
The incident reportedly took place in Bologovsky district in the Tver area, 60 miles north of Moscow, according to prior reports.
On board the Embraer aircraft, Prigozhin died along with seven other passengers and three crew members.
Prior to his passing, the Wagner boss was well-known for his uprising against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

1. Prigozhin was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1961.
2. According to reports, Prigozhin spent his 20s serving a nine-year sentence for robbery and fraud in a Soviet prison.
3. The Wagner boss started selling hot dogs in his hometown after being released from prison.
4. Years later, Prigozhin opened a posh restaurant in St. Petersburg that attracted Russian elites, including Vladimir Putin, who was then the deputy mayor.
5. He became known as “Putin’s chef” after being given lucrative and exclusive government catering contracts to prepare state banquets for the Russian President.

6. In 2014, Prigozhin founded the Wagner Group, a private military firm.
7. Before September 2022, when he finally acknowledged starting the unit, he denied any association with the group.
8. After Bakhmut was taken into custody last year, Putin gave the organisation its first-ever formal recognition.
9. Prigozhin, however, instigated an armed uprising against Putin in Moscow in June 2023 and demanded that the military’s top commanders resign for how they handled the conflict with Ukraine.
