As time passed-by, I kept hearing the same statement. Ironically, those that made these comments have refused to let the same youths they predicted as future leaders take up the leadership seat.
Having pondered for years, I discovered that those statements “Youths are the future of tomorrow’ is a propaganda
It is now obvious that for these statements to come to pass, the youths must wake up because our destiny is in our hands.
One of the ways these dreams will come true is for youths to increase their participation in politics.
The Nigeria youths should step up its position of not just being used during elections as thugs by selfish and greedy politicians but should realize that they are also potential leaders.
Recently, A platform known as ‘The Movement For A Youth Governor 2021’ has been launched to mobilize youths far and wide to support the election of a youth Governor come 2021 in Anambra state.
The coordinator of the group, Mr. Cornel Osigwe in a press release enjoined all progressive youth who believe in the vision to join the movement.
Osigwe emphasized that for Anambra 2021, A youth shall emerge the Governor and the “Movement For Anambra Youth Governor 2021” shall be the platform to make it happen.
The era of blaming our leaders is over. It’s time the Nigerian youths realize that the future is now. It might seem difficult, but it’s possible. It is time for youths to leave comfort and convenience and risk it all.
A good number of our present “old politicians” joined politics at a youthful age starting from Mr. President, Muhamadu Buhari, and not forgetting our hero’s past such like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Abubakar Tafawa Belewa, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasenjo, Alex Ekwueme to mention but a few. They all started and tested power in their early thirties, we need to bring back the good days.
My fellow youth, we have complained enough on bad governance, corruption, non-youth inclusiveness in governance, and so on. We can create that future we want. We can make the change happen. One of the things the government fears is the day the youths will stand together.

Let the change start from the fourth coming Edo, Ondo and Anambra governorship elections. It is no longer news that both the old and present leaders have failed us in many ways. All these points to the fact that our nation is really at a crossroad. These can be seen from the lack of basic amenities that is supposed to be the right of every Nigeria. Enough is enough.
The world is currently suffering from the coronavirus pandemic and it just exposed how bad and terrible the past and present government have failed in the health sector.
The Security, education, electricity, environmental and other sectors are in a state of emergency. The youths have complained enough and its time to take the bull by the horn.
The present youth generation should take its destiny into its own hands in order to provide our society with a better tomorrow. We need to change the narrative.
It is high time the youths kick these old folks out of the throne. The youths should remember that ‘the best way to predict a future is to create it’. The actions we take can either make or mar our future.

The task ahead of us is numerous but I believe we shall overcome. Young men and women with capacity should take the bold step and become the Moses of our time. The member representing Nnewi North constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly, Nonso Smart Okafor, early this year in his speech at the workshop of Freshminds communications said “ most youths have the mindset that politics is a dirty game, but it is not true. There are still good politicians in Nigeria. If you feel politics is dirty, join and make it clean’.
