Tochukwu Izuchukwu who died during the unfortunate incident that happened in the recently concluded 2018 Afia Olu Nnewi festival was today laid to rest in his family compound in Umuogbo Obiofia Nnewichi.
Tochukwu who was stabbed by an unknown young man while separating a fight between masquerades during the Afia Olu festival was until his death a trader based in Lagos.
Scores of residents of Obiofia Nnewichi including people from different parts of Nnewi, especially the youths thronged the family compound of Tochukwu Izuchukwu for the burial service as he was laid to mother earth.
Speaking at the funeral service, the pastor of Watchman Christian Church Obiofia Nnewichi described death as ‘an inevitable end’. He stated that Tochukwu Izuchukwu died when it was least expected and also in an avoidable circumstance, and that his death signals the fulfillment of his purpose on earth. He further condoled with the family members, relatives, friends and other acquaintances of Tochukwu Izuchukwu present.
As the event went on, the youths of Obiofia Nnewichi who were visibly angry were outside in their numbers, hurling curses at Tochukwu Izuchukwu killer. At the end of the burial, the angry youths intermittently disrupted movement along major roads in Obiofia Nnewichi with songs laced with abuses and curses to express their grief.
