President Bola Tinubu is due to receive the interim report from the Special Investigative team, which was tasked with looking into the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during the tenure of its former governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Remember that President Tinubu appointed Jim Obazee, the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, as the Special Investigator to look into the actions of the CBN and other affiliated organisations on July 28, 2023?
According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, a few of the biggest business magnates and CEOs of prominent banks are in a panic before the investigative report is turned in to the president.

ThisNigeria reports that several bank executives and business leaders have been making “panicked attempts to contact key presidential advisors in the Villa to arrange a soft landing for them”.
Speaking on the platform, Emefiele, according to presidential sources, had identified a few bank executives as either recipients of shady payments or go-betweens who helped move the money that was being investigated.
According to one of the people who spoke with ThisNigeria, several bank executives who benefited from the Anchor Borrowers scheme and business titans who engaged in dollar round-tripping have previously accompanied the President on his visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Paris.
According to the source, the bank executives and prominent businessmen visited the President in an attempt to prevent the Special Investigator from charging them.
According to the source, the President washed his hands off the case because “it is a matter solely for the Special Investigator and his team, and he is unlikely to interfere.”
“They should be ready to defend their actions if called upon,” said the source.
