In a significant development for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria, the Minister of the FCT Administration, Nyesom Wike, has administered the oath of office to several newly appointed secretaries, including Charles Elechi, who has taken on the role of Secretary of Economic Planning, Revenue Generation, and Public Private Partnership.
Charles Elechi, a lawyer by profession, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having previously served as a two-term Commissioner for Agriculture and Transport in Abia State. He also held the role of Special Adviser to a former governor in the state in 2015. His appointment is expected to contribute to the FCT’s growth and development.
Other individuals who were sworn in alongside Charles Elechi include Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe for the Health and Environmental Services secretariat, Uboku Nyah for the Transportation secretariat, Salman Dako for the Legal Services secretariat, Bitrus Garki for the Area Council Services secretariat, and several others.

Minister Nyesom Wike called upon the newly inaugurated secretaries to approach their duties with a sense of urgency, dedication, and selflessness. He emphasized the importance of working diligently to advance President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the FCT, aiming to transform it into a world-class Capital Territory.
Wike acknowledged the challenges facing the FCT, including issues related to revenue generation, environmental sanitation, public health, infrastructure development, security, education, agriculture, food security, and satellite town development. He particularly highlighted the need for a reliable and comprehensive public transportation system, an essential element of any modern city.
The minister stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in revenue generation and procurement processes to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue status of the FCT and support its ambitious development projects and initiatives.
This swearing-in ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter for the FCT, with dedicated individuals taking on key roles to address the challenges and advance the development agenda of the territory.
