In an unprecedented milestone for sports enthusiasts and advocates of gender equality, the city of Nnewi on the 26th of August hosted the inaugural female beach soccer event at Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi.
The historic occasion, organized by the Anambra Beach Soccer Association (ABSA), marked a momentous step forward in promoting women’s participation and recognition in the world of sports.
Led by the visionary Prof. Victor Madubuko and a dedicated team of board members, ABSA orchestrated a remarkable display of athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship at the event graced by top personalities in Nnewi such as Hon Prince Chukwudi Orizu, the immediate past TC chair of Nnewi North and Vice President of ABSA, Founder of film one and Komworld cinemas, Kene Mkparu, Mr. Uzo Obi, Mr. Charles Ejiofor oga, Engr. Chiadi, Ogbuefi Ifeme and many others.

The passionate fervor and spirited enthusiasm exhibited by the young female talents showcased the immense potential that resides within the state. The players demonstrated their skills in a thrilling and fast-paced competition. The echoes of cheers from the spectators resonated through the air, celebrating not only the games but also the larger significance of the occasion.
The game featured lots of entertainment from Living world cultural troop and Udubonch Block Rosary within the 3mins break observed after each quarter of the game. In the male category, Moniepoint beat Moonshine by 4 goals to 2 and in the female category, Gp World wins the game with 5 goals to 3 against team
Overcomers.
Prof. Victor Madubuko, the driving force behind this pioneering endeavor, expressed his elation at the successful execution of the event. Saying that indeed it’s a joyful thing to witness the first female beach soccer team in Nigeria, especially here in Nnewi, Anambra state.
