The sources stated that after the Ministry of the Niger Delta is abolished, all projects and responsibilities that were previously assigned to the ministry will be transferred to the NDDC.

“Tinubu has scrapped the Ministry of Niger Delta. It was done because there is the Niger Delta Development Commission so it is like they are duplicating efforts. Now, all works done by the Ministry of Niger Delta will be moved to the NDDC,” one of the sources said.
A list of the ministers and their responsibilities was published by President Tinubu on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management, the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and the Ministry of Gas Resources are just a few of the new ministries the President has established while changing the names of some others.
The Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, formerly known as the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, is another institution.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, which will be led by Betta Edu, was formerly known as the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

It had been decided to divide the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development into two—Ministry of Youth and Ministry of Sports Development.
Orji Uzor Kalu, a senator, urged President Tinubu to abolish the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in May.
He said that the ministry’s efforts were a repetition of the Niger Delta Development Commission’s activities.
“Some of the ministries and parastatals that are no longer viable like the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and some other ministries that are not viable should be scrapped.
We have the Niger Delta Development Commission like we have the North East Development Commission. So the Ministry of Niger Delta should be scrapped,” he said.
