On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu and incoming House of Representatives representatives from opposition parties will now meet.
The meeting was originally planned to take place on Monday along with one with Senate candidates from the opposition, which will still happen as planned.
The invitation from President Tinubu was sent out on Saturday and was signed by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, and Tijani Umar, the Permanent Secretary of the State House.

All concerned members were urged to attend and present their information for security clearance in the letter to the National Assembly Clerk.
The change in date was communicated to the members-elect through a notice which stated, “This is to inform members-elect that the meeting with the President has been postponed till Thursday. Proper communication will be sent subsequently. Regards.”
These gatherings take place immediately before the opening of the 10th Assembly on June 13, 2023.
The meetings’ agenda was not made clear, although it is assumed that it has something to do with the issue sparked by the APC’s leadership zoning plan.
On May 8, 2023, the APC’s National Working Committee issued a zoning scheme for the 10th National Assembly’s leadership.

Several candidates have resisted this approach and promised to run against the party’s preferred nominees.
The votes of recently elected members and members-elect from opposition parties are crucial for the APC candidates and those who are running against them.
The combined votes of these opposition lawmakers, who represent seven different political parties, exceed those of the ruling party.
