The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum’s new chairman is Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State, reportedly revealed this shortly after a retreat for elected PDP governors and members of the National Assembly.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was elected Vice Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, who also attended the PDP retreat, was replaced by Mohammed.
Umar Damagum, the interim national chairman of the PDP, said in his opening remarks at the retreat, “I want to stress, on the matter of the National Assembly, we have to realize we are an opposition.
“In order to remain relevant, we must work together as one family. That’s the only way you’ll be able to ensure that your relevance is being determined.”
Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, spoke at the retreat and criticized President Bola Tinubu’s strategy for eliminating fuel subsidies.
Recall that President Tinubu continued a program first introduced by previous President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022 by announcing the end of gasoline subsidies in his inaugural address on Monday.

Both Tinubu and Atiku had initially endorsed the program.
Atiku, though, objected to what some have described as a hurried policy choice.
“Between 1999 and 2007, the PDP government initiated the petroleum subsidy removal and I chaired the committee,” Atiku said.
He continued by saying that during his administration, the subsidy was eliminated in two stages, but only after aiding the people who would be most negatively impacted.
