The Edo State Government has paid wages and pensions to employees and retirees in the state as part of efforts by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to uphold its pledge of prompt remuneration to maintain the welfare of workers in the state.
Osarodion Ogie Esq., the Secretary to the State Government, reaffirmed in a statement that the government will uphold its commitment to workers’ welfare and make sure that employees and retirees receive what is justly theirs for their contribution to the state.
According to the statement, “The Edo State Government, on Friday, May 26, 2023, paid salaries and pensions to workers and retirees for the month of May, in continuation of trend of meeting its statutory obligation before the end of the month.”
Noting that the government remains committed to the welfare of workers in the state, Ogie noted, “The Edo State Government will not relent in its efforts at sustaining its worker-friendly disposition and ensuring an enabling environment for workers to perform optimally.
“It is therefore imperative that workers in the state reciprocate this gesture by displaying an unalloyed commitment to their duties and supporting the government in its efforts to transform the state and place it on the path of sustainable economic growth and development.”
