A week after the incident, the United Kingdom’s immigration department has not commented on Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, who was detained and questioned.
According to news reports, immigration officers held the LP flagbearer last Friday at Heathrow Airport in London due to a possible case of a duplicated identity.
The Obi-Datti media office claimed in a statement on Wednesday that Obi was held after being approached by an immigration officer who gave him a detention note and directed him to move aside.
UK Police Detained, Interrogated Peter Obi Over Alleged Impersonation
According to the report, Obi was wrongfully detained for suspected copying violations allegedly perpetrated by an impostor who is still at large, and he was interrogated for a protracted period of time.
According to the statement, Obi’s impersonator may have committed a number of offences that resulted in harassment of the LP flagbearer, who spent more than ten years living in the UK.
It required the participation of Nigerians who instantly raised their voices and enquired as to why Obi was being delayed, according to the Obi-Datti media office.
A UK immigration press representative told TheCable in an interview that the agency couldn’t comment on specific instances because one was still under investigation.
