In the most recent survey conducted by the Anap Foundation in preparation for the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has pulled ahead of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the North Central geographical zone.
After a first survey in September, Anap Foundation commissioned NOI Polls Limited to conduct a second survey.
The North Central has been singled out by many political analysts as one of the few regions that could decide the February 2023 presidential election.
2023: Peter Obi Leads Tinubu, Atiku, Others In Electorate Poll
Obi and Tinubu both received 16% in the North Central region of the Anap Foundation survey conducted in September, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) both received 2%.
However, in the most recent Anap Foundation poll, Obi defeated Tinubu in the North Central, earning 24%, an increase of 8% from the September poll, to Tinubu’s 9%, a fall of 7% from the previous poll.
On Wednesday’s episode of Channels Television Politics Today, Anap Foundation President Atedo Peterside made this announcement.
He claims that Kwankwaso dropped from 2% in the previous poll to 1% in the most recent poll in the North Central zone, while Atiku reported a minor decline in the zone, dropping from 9% in September to 8% in the most recent poll.
2023: Peter Obi Ahead Of Atiku, Tinubu, Others In New Poll
Obi had a 24% overall lead over the next three contenders, up 3% from the 21% he had in the September poll.
Atiku’s score decreased from the 13% he received in September to 10%, while Tinubu’s total score remained same at 13%.
Kwankwaso’s rating decreased from the 3% he received in September to just 2%.
According to Anap, Obi currently has a 10%-point advantage over the competition, which is impressive but insufficient to set him apart from the pack of front-runners.
The Foundation did, however, add that the percentages of voters who are still uncertain and those who would want to remain anonymous total an astounding 29% and 23%, respectively.
