Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State and vice presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly requested former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s intervention in the opposition party’s dispute.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who represents a faction within the PDP, has called for Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, to step down.
Until their demands are met, Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde, Governor Samuel Ortom, and other chieftains have resigned from the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council.

Okowa contacted Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, over the weekend to step in and diffuse the situation after receiving threats from Wike’s supporters.
Okowa, who met with Saraki on how he can broker peace in the party, was said to be disturbed by the plot by Wike’s camp to boycott the presidential campaign.
A source told Newsmen that: “Okowa came to ask Saraki to intervene so that PDP will not go into the campaign as a divided family.
“He believes Saraki and other leaders can salvage the situation by appeasing Wike.”
An aide to Saraki said: ”I knew Okowa was around to see Dr. Saraki, but I wasn’t privy to what they discussed.”

“We had a useful discussion about the state of our party, the PDP and country.”
