A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, and some Nigerians have berated popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, for saying that bandits don’t live a luxurious life.
Newsmen had earlier reported that Gumi said that bandits live in huts and that sometimes they drink from the stream.
In an interview on AIT on Tuesday, the Kano-based cleric claimed that bandits are under attack by the Nigerian Government due to frequent bombardment and are likely to seek means to defend themselves.

But in a post on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode wondered why people listen to Gumi, adding that his sympathy for the bandits is alarming.
The former minister berated the cleric for making a case for bandits that are involved in kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities.

Some Nigerians have also taken to social media to condemn the excuse made by Gumi for the bandits and called on the Department for State Service (DSS) to arrest the cleric.
