According to Tijani Tumsah, coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettimah Support Group, North East, the Labour Party’s gathering on October 1 attended by Peter Obi’s followers, commonly known as “Obedients,” did not pose a threat to the APC.
He made this comment during yesterday’s APC event in Lagos State, which was organized by Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Management, in favor of Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, and Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running partner.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Tumsah stated on a Channels TV program that the Lagos demonstration represents a popular grassroots surge of support for the APC and that none of the other parties will be able to equal it.

He added that while parties can have rallies as much as they like, the party with the greatest support will have the most turnout on the streets. He said Lagos is a crucial location for the APC and that the ruling party was in no way endangered by earlier rallies organized by other parties.
The former APC interim secretary went on to say that the APC enjoys broad public support in Nigeria and that, as a result, events like yesterday’s five million-person solidarity walk could be copied and replicated in many parts of the federation.
He explained that the crowd is an indication of support and that “I can also assure you that the ground game, the door-to-door movement and all the support groups that are all over, will make the difference in terms of voting capacity or votes gathered by thel parties as we go.”

The APC has registered members who can always be counted on to show up for party events like rallies and voting purposes, he insisted when discussing the financial implications of such massive rallies to the party and how the crowd is drawn. “So it is difficult for a party that just came out now to gather as many people as we can as a party in APC,” he said.
He said that party cells, individuals, and member sacrifice are the main sources of funding large-scale protests. He also claimed that most rallies are done voluntarily and on the basis of call-ups since party members are always prepared to show up for the cause they support.
When asked how the diversity and trend of Lagos’ youths might affect the APC’s support in the state, Tumsah responded, “We have an indication that Lagos is within an area we can rely on to support the APC and history has shown also that APC wins election in Lagos state, but that isn’t to say there won’t be a good showing for other parties as it has always happened in the party.

He did, however, point out that problems matter in every state because they will always be a deciding factor in how people vote, and that’s why “I can see APC having the impulse in most of the states in Nigeria.”
When discussing the signing of the peace pact by candidates and how it relates to APC members, Tumsah made the observation that a candidate’s signature on a document means that his supporters support it.
The APC does not condone violence, and Nigerians are moving toward a more issue-based method of expressing their political views, he added, adding that there are disciplinary committees in each cell of the party and at each level to deal with non-compliant members who resort to violence.
