Despite the stark differences between Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, and Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, the PDP will continue with its preparations for the 2023 election.
Recall that a number of individuals, including Chief Olabode George, Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike, and others withdrew from the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council in anticipation of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation as the party’s National Chairman.
The PDP has reportedly set Wednesday, September 28, for the Campaign Council’s formal launch.

While the elections take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, the presidential and National Assembly campaigns start on the same Wednesday and last through Thursday, February 23, 2023.
The PDP was putting the finishing touches on creating the schedule of activities for the inauguration as well as logistics, according to a source who told Newsmen that the PDP is considering three states/venues for the flag-off of its campaign.
The source said: “For now, Abuja, where we will be inaugurating the Campaign Council, Uyo, Asaba and Yola are among the venues being considered. We are taking a lot of things into consideration.
“We have not settled for a venue because our candidate is still moving around meeting zonal caucuses to hear from each one of them directly.”
