Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, responded to Ibrahim Shekarau’s defection on Monday. Shekarau was the former governor of Kano State.
Speaking at the welcoming event held to welcome Shekarau, Ayu expressed the hope that the party will come together before the general elections in 2023.
He added that efforts to demolish the biggest opposition party will not divert the party from its goals.

As the election for 2023 approaches, Ayu pointed out that PDP would overcome all of its issues and grow more unified.
The PDP National Chairman praised Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, for trying to recruit party members again.
He continued by saying that the critical state of Kano would determine the party’s success.
Ayu said that the former governor of Kano State had other admirers, making it difficult to persuade him to return to the party.
He declared that Shekarau is prepared to guarantee the party’s victory at both the state and federal levels.

Ayu said, “We’re not going to be distracted by those who believe that in peddling lies they would destroy the PDP. I believe that God willing, we shall overcome all the distractful forces. Our party would get more united.”
