Ohanaeze Youth Council, an Igbo socio-cultural organization, has encouraged people in the South-West and South-South to accept a South-east extraction of a Nigerian president in 2023 to repay the latter’s political sacrifices to them, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, OYC’s national president, said this in a press statement on Thursday, ahead of the Southern Youth Leaders’ Summit in Owerri.
“In all fairness, former Governor Bola Tinubu’s political teams, APC political elite, and South-West members owe Dr Ogbonnaya Onu a political reciprocation,” he stated.

In 1999, Dr. Onu withdrew his presidential bid in favor of APP’s presidential candidate, Chief Olu Falae.
Dr. Onu is deserving of a Yoruba national honor.
“It is apparent that Dr. Alex Ekwueme, who played low and accepted internal preparations for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to take the PDP presidential ticket in 1999, paid the ultimate price for the realization of the South-West presidential project in 1999.”
“If any presidential contestant from the South-West decides to confront South-east presidential hopefuls in the next 2022 primary election, it will amount to regional and ethnic enmity.”
In the 1999 presidential election, the South-East became political spectators in order for the South-West to participate in the presidential political tournament, which resulted in Chief Obasanjo’s victory.”

He also appealed while reminding the South-South people of the gestures displayed by the southeasterners which paved the way for the emergence of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the vice and later president of Nigeria in the year 2011 and 2015, respectively.
Igboayaka said, “The overwhelming vote of South-East to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and 2015 is a description of love and solidarity to our brothers in South-South. It will also amount to regional hatred and political sabotage if any South-South dares a South-east presidential aspirant in PDP primaries.
“Any presidential aspirants from South-South, South-West, North-East, North-Central and North-West are a threat to Nigeria’s unity.”
