Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), has registered his candidacy for the Senate.
On Monday, Oshiomhole made the announcement during his 70th birthday party in Iyamoh, his country residence.
In 2023, the former governor of Edo State announced that he will run for the Edo North Senatorial seat on the APC platform.

Senator Francis Alimikhena represents the Edo North Senatorial zone in the National Assembly at the moment.
Meanwhile, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki met with key Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidates on Monday to discuss the party’s zoning strategy ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Governors of Sokoto and Bauchi states, Aminu Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, respectively, are among the PDP candidates, as are former Senate President Bukola Saraki and top economist Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen.
Obaseki, who received the guests at the Government House in Benin City, said the country was in desperate need of a leader who could unify and restore the country.

Saraki had earlier stated that the visit was to canvass for the option of adopting a consensus candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections, speaking on behalf of others.
