Senator Ali Ndume, the member for Borno South in the National Assembly’s upper house, has stated that anything is still possible in terms of who ends up becoming the Senate President for the 10th National Assembly.
Ndume asserted that Senator Godswil Akpabio is not the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s (the party’s) chosen candidate, but only the preferred candidate, and that the lawmakers will still have to vote to choose the final seat occupant.
Insinuating otherwise, in his opinion, would suggest that the procedure was completed; yet, the Senators would still have to appear in the Red Chamber on the 13th, where anything may happen.
10th NASS: APC To Select Principal Positions Through Consensus
The Borno Senator voiced his opinions about the zoning template that the APC presented on Monday during an interview with Arise TV.
Newsmen cites the adoption of a zoning template for the post of senior officers of the 10th National Assembly on Monday by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The South-South is favored by the zoning plan, notably Akpabio for Senate President.
Others are “Deputy Senate President – North West-Senator Barau Jubrin (Kano). Speaker, House of Representatives North West-Hon. Abass Tajudeen (Kaduna).
“Deputy Speaker South East-Hon. Ben Kalu (Abia)”.
Ndume argued that despite the party’s stance, Akpabio’s election as Senate President is not a contract that has been made, sealed, and delivered.

In his words, “If you say the APC have Akpabio as their preferred candidate, that would be a better word. It is not anointing, it is preferred candidate, because if it is anointing, then it is a fait accompli which is not the case. We have to go on the 13th into that chamber and vote and it could go any way.”
