According to reports, lawmakers who support Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike and House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila have united to control the 10th National Assembly’s speakership.
On the “Joint Task-10th Assembly” platform, the lawmakers-elect who backed Wike and Gbajabiamila are planning to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) zoning plan for the speaker and vice speakership posts of the House.
Recall that Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu were named as the APC’s consensus candidates for Speaker and Deputy, respectively, on Monday.

The co-chairman is Kingsley Chinda, who represents the federal constituency of Obi/ Akpor, and the chairman is Bello Kumo, head of the House Committee on Police Affairs.
Wale Raji, chairman of House Service, Aliyu Madaki, and Olubunmi Ojo, chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), serve as additional executives in the roles of vice chairman, secretary, and financial secretary, respectively.
The partnership between Gbajabiamila’s followers and Wike’s allies strengthens the bond between Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, and the governor of Rivers State.
Wike has declared that his state would back the National Assembly leadership candidate of the ruling party.
When the zoning formula was revealed, a source close to the Joint Task-10th Assembly told the Daily Sun that the group, which has scheduled a meeting for today in Abuja, would go above and beyond to make sure the APC’s wishes were carried out in the choice of leadership in the Green chamber during the following administration.

“The leadership of the group is already intensifying efforts to woo members-elect to allow the choice of APC for the leadership of the House prevail,” a source said.
It was reported that on Monday, the Joint Task 10th assembly leaders mobilized at the location of the induction ceremony for newly elected legislators.
While the presentation was going on, Kumo, Raji, and other group leaders could be seen pacing the hall and speaking with members-elect.
Idris Wase, the deputy speaker, Yusuf Gagdi, the chairman of the house navy committee, Muktar Betara, and Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Aminu Jaji, and Miriam Onuoha are the other candidates for speaker.
